Matt Duchene scored the game-winner in double overtime to lift the Dallas Stars to a 2-1 victory, sending them to the Western Conference Final and eliminating the Colorado Avalanche.

Avalanche forward Mikko Rantanen opened the scoring in the second period, but Stars captain Jamie Benn evened it up in the final frame to send the two teams to overtime.

The Stars thought they had won the game in the first overtime period on a Mason Marchment shot, but the goal was immediately waved off for goaltender interference. The league reviewed the play and confirmed the call on the ice.

Duchene’s game-winner came at 11:42 in double overtime after a scramble at the net set the puck loose, where the 33-year-old forward corralled it and sent it into the open net.

The Stars now await the winner of the series between the Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers, which goes to Game 6 on Saturday. The Canucks lead the series 3-2.

More to come…
