Feel free to breathe now Oilers fans…

In what looked like a sure thing heading into the third period, with the Canucks seemingly out of gas and the Oilers controlling the pace for much of the first 40 minutes, Vancouver somehow staged a raging comeback to keep Oil Country on their toes and biting their nails for the final few minutes.

The Oilers managed to show their steel and hold on for the tight 3-2 win in an electric ending perfect for a Game 7.

Edmonton, the last Canadian team standing, will travel to Dallas for Game 1 of the Western Conference Final on Thursday. The Oilers need to win two more series to become the first Canadian squad since the 1993 Montreal Canadiens to capture the Stanley Cup.

On the other end, it was one heck of a season for Vancouver, making the leap from sixth in the Pacific last season to the top of the division in this go-around.

Some Canucks fans took the high road following the loss, cheering on the team in the arena and on social media knowing that this was only the start of something great for their team.
