Stars’ Roope Hintz out for Game 1 vs. Oilers

Dallas Stars’ forward Roope Hintz will not play in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals against the Edmonton Oilers, according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.

He is still day-to-day but is hopeful to play Game 2.

The 27-year-old Hintz hasn’t played since Game 4 of their second-round series against the Colorado Avalanche, only play 6:35 of ice time before leaving the game with an upper-body injury.

Through 11 games this postseason, Hintz has two goals and four assists for six points. Last season, the Stars’ forward was a playoff monster, scoring 10 goals and 14 assists for 24 points in 19 games, helping the club reach the Western Conference Finals.

Through the 2023-24 regular season, Hintz recorded 30 goals and 34 assists for 65 points, his third straight 30-goal season. Through six NHL seasons with the Stars, Hintz has 147 goals and 163 assists for 310 points in 392 career games.

Dallas went toe-to-toe with the defending Stanley Cup champion Vegas Golden Knights in Round 1, winning 4-3 in seven games. They went on to face the Avalanche and eliminate them in six games, earning their third conference final appearance in five seasons.

This past seasons, the Stars went 52-21-9 with 113 points, finishing first in the Central Division and their best regular season since 2005-06. The team is hoping to reach the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time since 2019-20, when they lost in six games to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The club won their first and only Stanley Cup championship in 1998-99, defeating the Buffalo Sabres in six games.
