In just over a week, two Edmonton Oilers have etched their names in NHL playoff lore.

With a goal and an assist in the first period of Game 3 between the Oilers and Dallas Stars, Connor McDavid became the fourth-fastest player in NHL history to record 100 career playoff points, doing so in his 64th career postseason game.

This comes after McDavid’s teammate Leon Draisaitl became the third-fastest player in league history to score 100 playoff points, doing so in Game 6 of the Oilers’ second-round series against the Vancouver Canucks.

Having already recorded an assist early in the opening frame off a Zach Hyman goal, McDavid achieved the playoff century mark when he scored 7:37 into the first period of Game 3 against the Dallas Stars to give the Oilers a 2-0 lead.

Going into Monday night, the Oilers’ captain had three goals and 20 assists in 14 playoff games this spring. One of those goals came last Thursday, when 32 seconds into the second overtime of Game 1 between the Oilers and Stars, McDavid took a cross-ice feed from Evan Bouchard and scored to give Edmonton a 1-0 series lead.

Through 76 regular-season games in 2023-24, the 27-year-old McDavid scored 32 goals and 100 assists for 132 points, becoming just the fourth player in NHL history to reach the 100-assist mark in a single season.
