After 10 games without a goal, Dallas Stars forward Jason Robertson ended his drought in a huge way on Monday.
Robertson had a hat trick as the visiting Stars beat the Edmonton Oilers 5-3 at Rogers Place to take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven Western Conference Final.
Dallas has won the past two games after dropping the series opener at home.
Robertson broke a 3-3 tie to complete the hat trick midway through the third period. The former Kingston Frontenacs star jammed it in short-side on Oilers goalie Stuart Skinner.
Miro Heiskanen added an empty-netter to seal it.
Trailing 2-0 after the first, the Stars rallied with three straight goals in a second period in which they registered the first 14 shots.
Western Conference Final: Oilers vs. StarsRobertson scored the first two before Wyatt Johnston put Dallas up 3-2.
But Adam Henrique, returning after missing the past seven games with a lower-body injury, tied it at 3-3 late in the second period when he tipped home Connor Brown’s pass.
Zach Hyman and Connor McDavid gave the Oilers a 2-0 lead in the first. McDavid, who had an assist on Hyman’s game-opening goal, reached 100 career playoff points with his goal.
Game 4 is Wednesday in Edmonton.
