Oilers’ Warren Foegele ejected for kneeing vs. Panthers

Edmonton Oilers forward Warren Foegele was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct for kneeing Florida Panthers forward Eetu Luostarainen halfway through the first period of Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final.

The Panthers were awarded a five-minute powerplay, but just over a minute into it, Oliver Ekman Larsson took a double minor for tripping, resulting in four-on-four action. Oilers’ defenseman Mattias Ekholm was able to capitalize and open the scoring.

Luostarainen would return to the game for Florida.

Foegele played in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final, his first game since Game 3 of the Western Conference Final aginst the Dallas Stars. The 28-year-old logged 10:23 of ice time and has registered one goal and three points on 16 Stanley Cup Playoff contests this season.

Foegele is coming off a career-high 20 goals and 21 assists for 41 points in 82 games during the 2023-24 regular season.
