Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final is set for tonight at Rogers Place in Edmonton between the Edmonton Oilers vs. Florida Panthers.

The Panthers have a commanding 2-0 lead after taking both games back at home and now look to hand the Oilers their first loss on home ice. But the Oilers have shown mental strength and resiliency this year and Game 3 will be a major test.

Today on Daily Faceoff Live, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk talk about the Oilers’ mental strength and what will need to happen to get a win in Game 3.

Tyler Yaremchuk: I do think the Oilers weren’t as good in Game 2 as Game 1, I wonder if part of it was them just being in Florida for five days, media days, and just being a little bit gassed. Not necessarily an excuse but I do think getting back on home ice will be really good for them tonight.

Frank Seravalli: Not just a good home team but a better bounce-back team in general. Connor McDavid has echoed that, go back to his clip at the end of the regular season “They left us for dead.” That’s what they were looking at in December, they lost to the San Jose Sharks and they waived their goalie who was making 5 million. All these things have unfolded for the Oilers, whether it’s down 2-1, 3-2 to the Canucks, not having a lead in that series, down 2-1 to the Dallas Stars and then winning three straight. There is a lot to point to that this team is mentally strong enough to get back into the series. The only equation Tyler is that they are playing a team that’s on a different level and team that’s better than any team they have played before.
