The Stanley Cup Final will have at least one more game, thanks to a convincing effort by one of the most stacked lineups in the NHL.

With the Edmonton Oilers facing a 3-0 deficit, they pulled out all of the stops to ensure they did not allow the Florida Panthers to parade around Rogers Place with Lord Stanley’s Cup. Powered by a record-breaking performance from Connor McDavid, and three points from Dylan Holloway, the Oilers blasted the Panthers with an 8-1 win.

Outside of the obvious fact they scored more goals in Game 4 than they did in the first three games of the series, Edmonton was efficient at converting on their scoring chances, something Florida, and particularly goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky, did a good job limiting prior to Saturday night.

The question will be whether the Oilers can maintain even a fraction of their scoring touch from Game 4 when they head into Sunrise on Tuesday night. If not, the Panthers will win the franchise’s first Stanley Cup.

On Monday’s edition of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk discuss what went right for the Oilers in Game 4.

Frank Seravalli: Still mind-blown about how that played out. If you told me the Oilers would win Game 4, I wouldn’t have been shocked, but 8-1? Who had that on their bingo card?

Tyler Yaremchuk: If you would’ve told me the final was going to be 8-1…I think a lot of Edmonton would’ve just turned off the TVs.

Frank: Look at [the Oilers] chances off the rush…way more opportunistic in stretching the ice. They scored some really greasy goals in tight, nothing really super pretty. It looked like the recipe for success was get [Bobrovsky] moving, get in his way, cut out his ability to see the puck and take his eyes away. That’s something they really accomplished.

The Oilers have found some belief, they have found some confidence. It’s one thing to say that you’re getting the looks and chances and not converting, to then finally breaking through. Now, they have that in their back pocket as the series shifts back to Florida on Tuesday night.
