There’s no shortage of hype surrounding Game 6 of Stanley Cup Final

Just a week ago, it seemed like the Florida Panthers lifting the Stanley Cup for the first time in franchise history was an inevitability. Up 3-0 in the series, the Panthers looked like they were in control and the champagne was on ice.

But starting with a great effort to try and tie it late in Game 3, the Oilers have been far and away the better team, winning 8-1 in Game 4, flying back to Florida and stomping out the Cats 5-3 in Game 5, and now one win away from forcing an unthinkable Game 7.

On Friday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk discuss the hype surrounding Game 6 in Edmonton, how we got here, and what to expect going into Friday night.

Tyler Yaremchuk: The big question is: will the series wrap up tonight? T

Frank Seravalli: The fact that we’re back in this building, I don’t know if anyone really saw that coming. Just this morning, Zach Hyman was talking about the idea of “outside belief,” and people wondering if they’re out of it, but he says the team didn’t really think they should have been down 3-0 so it didn’t really feel like they were.

They were left for dead in November, then climbed back, and in the moments they’ve been down in this post-season, they’ve come back, and now they’re in a position where they have an entire city behind them, maybe even a country.

What we’re talking about is history, and no team has done this in over 80 years, to be down 3-0 in a Stanley Cup Final, come all the way back and win.

Only one team can win the Stanley Cup tonight, and it’s not the Oilers, but the fact we’re here, and it’s a possibility they can get to level ground is an incredible turn of events.
