The Edmonton Oilers will be shorthanded at forward for Saturday night’s matchup against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch announced at morning skate that Viktor Arvidsson will miss a second consecutive game, and the team will continue to dress 11 forwards and seven defencemen.
Arvidsson missed Thursday’s game against his former team, the Nashville Predators, with an undisclosed injury. The veteran winger, however, was on the ice Saturday for the morning skate, an indication that he is close to returning.
The right-shot forward joined the Oilers this past off-season on a two-year, $8 million contract. He has two goals and three assists in 16 games.
