The Utah Hockey Club will be without rookie defenceman Maveric Lamoureux for the next four to six weeks.
The team announced the news Friday night ahead of its game against the Edmonton Oilers.
According to the team, Lamoureux is dealing with an upper-body injury.
The news comes as a tough blow for Utah, which is already dealing with long-term injuries to two other defencemen: Sean Durzi (shoulder) and John Marino (back).
Lamoureux likely sustained the injury during Tuesday’s game against the Montreal Canadiens, briefly exiting after taking a puck to the hand. However, he returned to finish the night, logging 14:57 of ice time and recording two shots on goal.
The 20-year-old, from Laval, Que., has recorded three points (one goal and two assists) across 15 games this season.
Lamoureux was drafted by the Arizona Coyotes as the 29th overall pick in 2022.
