Team Canada is a slight favorite over Team USA in the inaugural 4 Nations Face-Off, which will replace the NHL's All-Star Game in February.
Canada is priced at +145 (40.8% implied probability) to win the event and the U.S. is +175 (36.4% implied probability) at theScore Bet/ESPN Bet.
Sweden (+450) and Finland (+725) round out the four-team field.
So far, bettors are eager to back the Americans. Auston Matthews and Co. have attracted 50% of the bets and 55.1% of the handle (money wagered). Finland has received the second-most handle with Canada the least bet-on team at only 14.2% of the handle.
Rosters for the international round-robin tournament were released Tuesday. The tourney will be the first featuring countries' best-on-best players since the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.
Connor McDavid, Sidney Crosby, and Nathan MacKinnon are three of Team Canada's notable selections.
Matthews is joined by Jack and Quinn Hughes and reigning Stanley Cup champion Matthew Tkachuk, among others, on Team USA.
The 4 Nations Face-Off runs from Feb. 12-20 in host cities Montreal and Boston. The final game will be played in Boston.
