The Edmonton Oilers prank Connor McDavid after milestone

Originally posted on The Hockey Beast

Connor McDavid became the fourth-fastest player in NHL history to reach 1,000 points, and his teammates couldn’t have been happier. Of course, they couldn’t resist pulling a hilarious prank on McDavid when he walked into the locker room after reaching the milestone, and fans can’t stop laughing at the viral video.

The Edmonton Oilers captain has consistently proven that he’s the best player in the world since his arrival in the NHL. In November, McDavid became the 99th player in NHL history to record at least 1,000 points and the fourth-fastest to accomplish the feat.

McDavid reached the four-digit milestone in just 659 games, trailing only Wayne Gretzky (424), Mario Lemieux (513), and Mike Bossy (656).

When McDavid reached 1,000 points during a 3-2 overtime win over the Nashville Predators, his teammates immediately jumped onto the ice to swarm him. Afterward, they all wore specially made T-shirts featuring McDavid’s face. But in true Oilers fashion, they also managed to pull off a hilarious prank on their captain.

The Oilers produce a series called The Drop, which gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at the team. In the upcoming episode, scenes from McDavid’s milestone game will be featured, and on Thursday, they released a sneak peek of what’s to come.

As shown in the video, the Oilers jokingly gave McDavid the silent treatment as he walked into the locker room. McDavid was probably expecting wild celebrations and loud cheers, but instead, everyone sat in complete silence. Eventually, one of the players broke, and the whole team erupted into cheers and applause, celebrating McDavid’s incredible milestone.
