Report: Canucks looking to move Desharnais

The Vancouver Canucks are trying to find a better situation for defenseman Vincent Desharnais, reports Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.

Desharnais has struggled in his first season with the Canucks, collecting only two points - both assists - while averaging 15:08 of ice time over 17 games.

Vancouver has controlled 51.56% of the expected goals with him on the ice at five-on-five but only 46.79% of the scoring chances in the same situations, per Natural Stat Trick.

Desharnais has been a healthy scratch on several occasions in 2024-25. The Canucks signed the 6-foot-7, 226-pounder to a two-year contract at $2 million annually on July 1.

The 28-year-old played his first two seasons with the Edmonton Oilers, amassing 122 blocked shots and 135 hits while posting a goal and 10 assists over 78 games in 2023-24.

Edmonton drafted Desharnais 183rd overall in 2016.
