The Senators will have to make do with a backup for the remainder of their outing against the Oilers.
Ottawa goaltender Linus Ullmark exited the game against the Edmonton Oilers Sunday night after suffering an upper-body injury. The team announced that he would not return.
Ullmark played the entirety of the first period, allowing one goal on seven shots, but didn’t return to the ice for the start of the second.
It’s unclear when he may have suffered his injury.
The 31-year-old has been strong for the Senators in his first year in Canada’s capital, logging a 12-7-2 record with a 2.37 goals-against average and .916 save percentage.
The Senators traded for the netminder in the off-season, sending a 2024 first-round pick, centre Mark Kastelic and goaltender Joonas Korpisalo to the Bruins in exchange for his services.
The team then agreed to a four-year, $33 million contract extension with Ullmark, as his former deal was set to expire after this season.
Ottawa is currently 18-13-2 and sits in fifth-place in the Atlantic division.
