Colorado Avalanche star Nathan MacKinnon became the 100th player in NHL history to record 1,000 career points Monday night against the Chicago Blackhawks.

MacKinnon reached the milestone with an assist on Artturi Lehkonen's third period goal that opened the scoring in the game.

It looked like MacKinnon had picked up his 1,000th point in the first period with an assist on Martin Necas' goal, but that was overturned on review.

MacKinnon becomes the second player to reach 1,000 points this season, joining Connor McDavid who achieved the feat back in November. McDavid was the fourth fastest in NHL history, doing so in 659 games while MacKinnon hits the mark in his 856th career contests.
