In the Edmonton Oilers‘ second signing of Wednesday, they added yet another overseas player to their roster.

Czech forward David Tomasek has agreed to a one-year, $1.2 million contract for the 2025-26 season, the Oilers announced.

The 29-year-old spent the last two seasons playing for Färjestad BK of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL), posting 49 goals and 53 assists through 99 appearances. He’s also competed in the Czech Extraliga, Liiga and KHL.

Tomasek, a native of Prague, Czechia, led all SHL players in points (57) and assists (37) throughout the 2024-25 campaign. He also ranked third in goals (24) as he helped Färjestad BK win its first regular-season league title since 2019.

The right-shot forward also appeared in 10 games for Czechia at the 2024 IIHF world championship, notching one goal and three assists for the gold medal-winning nation.

Prior to his professional career, Tomasek played two major junior seasons in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the Belleville Bulls from 2013-15.

Hours before adding Tomasek, the Oilers inked German forward Josh Samanski to a two-year entry-level contract.
