Oilers’ Pickard poised to start Game 3 vs. Kings

After making a late change in net during Game 2 against the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday, the Edmonton Oilers appear poised to stick with Calvin Pickard.

Pickard was in the starter’s net and morning skate and is expected to start Game 3 against the Kings at Rogers Place on Friday.

Stuart Skinner, the Oilers No. 1 throughout the regular season, was pulled midway through the third period after allowing five goals on 28 shots. Three of the Kings’ goals on Wednesday came on the power play.

The playoff veteran has allowed a total of 11 goals on 58 shots over two losses in the series, good for an .810 save percentage and a 6.11 goals-against average.

Pickard, while only having four games of playoff experience to Skinner’s 37, did have a marginally better GAA and save percentage during the regular season, albeit in fewer appearances.
