Report: Ducks interested in hiring Woodcroft, Carle, Sullivan

The Anaheim Ducks are casting a wide net for their coaching search.

The club interviewed Jay Woodcroft, met with David Carle, and contacted Mike Sullivan, TSN's Pierre LeBrun reported.

It was reported Saturday that the Ducks also interviewed Joel Quenneville.

Woodcroft was head coach of the Edmonton Oilers for parts of three seasons before being fired following a 3-9-1 start to the 2023-24 campaign. His .643 career winning percentage is the eight-highest all time among coaches with at least 100 games.

Carle is the head coach at the University of Denver. He's led the Pioneers to two national championships over the last four years. The 35-year-old has also guided Team USA to back-to-back gold medals at the World Juniors in 2024 and 2025.

Sullivan and the Pittsburgh Penguins parted ways Monday after a 10-year run, which included back-to-back Stanley Cups in 2016 and 2017. His 479 wins are the 32nd most in NHL history.

The Ducks fired Greg Cronin after the team failed to reach the playoffs for the second straight season. They're mired in a seven-year postseason drought.

Anaheim is one of eight coaching vacancies across the league, along with the Penguins, Vancouver Canucks, Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks, New York Rangers, Philadelphia Flyers, and Seattle Kraken.
