The Edmonton Oilers are keeping Alec Regula around.
The defenceman signed a two-year, two-way contract extension with an average annual value of $775,000, the club announced Friday.
Regula, 24, was picked up off waivers from the Boston Bruins in December. He missed the entirety of the season while rehabbing a knee injury.
Last season, Regula recorded 26 points (four goals and 22 assists) in 55 games with the Bruins’ AHL affiliate, the Providence Bruins.
Originally selected by the Detroit Red Wings in the third round (67th overall) of the 2018 draft, Regula has appeared in 22 NHL games to this point in his career, all with the Chicago Blackhawks, and has recorded one goal.
The Michigan native played junior hockey with the OHL’s London Knights.
