The Los Angeles Kings are speaking to Hall of Fame executive Ken Holland about their general manager vacancy, league sources told The Athletic's Arthur Staple.
The Kings and prior GM Rob Blake opted to part ways last week following Los Angeles' fourth straight Round 1 loss to the Edmonton Oilers.
Holland served as GM of the Oilers from 2019 to 2024, guiding them to a Stanley Cup Final appearance last year. He also won four Stanley Cups during his 34-year stint in the Detroit Red Wings' front office: one as an assistant GM in 1997 and three more as GM in 1998, 2002, and 2008.
Current Kings president Luc Robitaille played two seasons for the Red Wings under Holland, winning the Cup in 2002.
Robitaille said head coach Jim Hiller is expected to return behind the bench despite the front office change.
Kings adviser and former Montreal Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin is reportedly also a candidate for the executive role.
Holland also interviewed for the New York Islanders' vacancy. The 69-year-old was inducted into the Hall of Fame as a builder in 2020.
