As the Edmonton Oilers battle for the Stanley Cup, they are also keeping an eye toward the future.

The Oilers signed forward Viljami Marjala to a two-year entry-level contract, the team announced on Saturday.

Marjala, 22, spent the past three seasons playing in his native Finland, where he recorded 29 goals and 72 assists over 129 games.

The six-foot-one, 180-pound forward led TPS Turku with 52 points last season, including 44 assists.

He was originally selected in the fifth round of the 2021 draft by the Buffalo Sabres after two seasons in the QMJHL.
