The Edmonton Oilers have locked up their top defenceman.
Edmonton signed Evan Bouchard, a restricted free agent, to a four-year, $42-million contract extension on Monday, sources confirm to Sportsnet.
The deal has an average annual value of $10.5 million.
Elite Prospect’s Cam Robinson was the first to report the news.
Bouchard posted 14 goals and 67 points this past season with Edmonton, before adding another seven goals and 16 helpers in 22 games during the Oilers’ run to the Stanley Cup Final.
The 25-year-old blue-liner enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2023-24, scoring 18 goals and 82 points during the regular season and recorded 32 points (six goals, 26 assists) during the Oilers’ playoff run.
Now, Bouchard becomes one of the NHL’s highest-paid defencemen after recording the third-most points among D-men over the last two seasons.
