The Ottawa Senators locked down one of their restricted free agents.
Xavier Bourgault and the Senators agreed to a one-year, two-way contract through the 2025-26 season, the team announced Saturday.
The forward played primarily with the AHL’s Belleville Senators last season, appearing in 61 games, scoring 12 goals and 26 points.
Bourgault, 22, was originally selected 22nd overall by the Edmonton Oilers at the 2021 NHL Draft, but was traded to Ottawa with Jake Chiasson in exchange for a fourth-round pick and winger Roby Jarventie last summer.
Prior to his trade, Bourgault spent two years with AHL Bakersfield, scoring 21 goals and 54 points in 118 games for the Condors.
