Report: Wild not fielding trade calls for Kaprizov

The Minnesota Wild currently have no interest in listening to trade calls for Kirill Kaprizov, reports TSN's Pierre LeBrun.

Minnesota's only focus is signing Kaprizov to an extension, and the team still believes he wants to stay, LeBrun added.

Kaprizov, who can become an unrestricted free agent after the upcoming season, reportedly rejected an eight-year extension with what would be an NHL-record $16-million average annual value. General manager Bill Guerin refuted the report, saying "I don't know where this stuff comes from."

The $128-million extension offer remains on the table for Kaprizov, LeBrun said.

Kaprizov recorded 25 goals and 31 assists in 41 games last season. He was a Hart Trophy contender before a lower-body injury derailed his campaign.

The 28-year-old winger ranks 15th in points and 10th in points per game among all NHL skaters since entering the league in 2020-21. He's arguably the most talented player in Wild history, ranking first in the club's record book in goals per game and assists per game.

The Wild project to have $39 million in cap space next offseason, giving them ample room to offer Kaprizov a lucrative deal.
