VANCOUVER — Evander Kane‘s empty-netter with 1:11 remaining capped a run of four unanswered goals as the Vancouver Canucks defeated the Seattle Kraken 4-2 on Friday.
It was Kane’s pre-season debut with the Canucks after a trade from the Edmonton Oilers this past summer.
First-round pick Braeden Cootes, Filip Hronek and Jake DeBrusk provided the rest of the offence for Vancouver (2-1-0).
Kevin Lankinen made 17 saves in two periods of action, with Nikita Tolopilo stopping all four shots he saw in the final frame.
Jani Nyman and Tyson Jugnauth scored for Seattle (2-2-0), which got 33 saves from Matt Murray.
