Maple Leafs’ Nylander returns to lineup vs. Flames

The Toronto Maple Leafs will have William Nylander back in the fold as they take on the Calgary Flames on Tuesday night.

After missing Saturday’s game against the Buffalo Sabres with a lower-body injury, the first regular-season game he had missed since April 4, 2022, Nylander was a game-time decision heading into Tuesday’s contest. But after taking pre-game warmups, the 29-year-old got the green light to return to action.

In his first eight games of the season, Nylander recorded three goals and 11 assists.

Nylander originally suffered the initial injury on Friday. He exited with 5:51 remaining in the third period of the first half of the home-and-home against the Sabres and did not return for another shift.

He was shown on the broadcast skating to the bench slowly after taking a hit to the mid-section in open ice from Sabres forward Jason Zucker.
