Rob Ray absolutely roasted Stuart Skinner on live TV

The Edmonton Oilers fell hard against the Buffalo Sabres, losing 5-1, prompting announcer Rob Ray to absolutely rip into Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner on live TV.

The Oilers are struggling. Last week, they suffered a 9-1 defeat against the Colorado Avalanche, and last night they lost big again, 5-1 to the Sabres, who currently sit last in the Eastern Conference. The Sabres, meanwhile, won their second straight game after welcoming back captain Rasmus Dahlin, who had been in Sweden attending to personal matters.

Skinner under fire

Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner has faced his fair share of criticism over the years, especially during the playoffs when the stakes are high. In his last five games, Skinner has allowed 16 goals and posted a save percentage of just 86.55%.
Last night, Skinner gave up four goals on 27 shots, and late in the third period, the Oilers pulled him, opting to play with an empty net. That prompted Buffalo commentator Rob Ray to roast Skinner’s performance on live TV.

During the broadcast, Ray was heard saying: “Empty net for Edmonton. Yeah, it’s been most of the night, so what’s the difference?” Fans quickly took notice, and many found his remark hilarious.
“Even the Buffalo Sabres game callers are chirping Oilers goaltending. Brutal,” one fan wrote.
“Ouch. But that’s kind of funny,” another added.
“Rob Ray landing one of his cleanest shots after all these years. He’s still got it,” a third said, referencing Ray’s career as an NHL enforcer.
