The Washington Capitals (9-8-2) begin a set of back-to-backs on Wednesday night. The first half is a home game against the Edmonton Oilers (9-8-4) at Capital One Arena.
The puck drops at 7:00 p.m. ET.
The Capitals finish off a three-game homestand against Edmonton after they got a much-needed win against Los Angeles on Monday.
It’s been nearly a month since the Capitals last won back-to-back games. Those consecutive wins came against Seattle and Columbus, respectively on Oct. 21 and 24.
The Capitals finished off Los Angeles 2-1 and ended their opponents’ four-game road winning streak on Monday.
Charlie Lindgren stepped up between the pipes in his first start in 11 days. He made 30 saves to earn his 60th win as a Capital.
Alex Ovechkin recorded the game-winning goal, and now has three tallies in his last four games. He’ll get to square off against another face of the NHL in Connor McDavid on Wednesday night.
As for Edmonton, they enter this season having reached the Stanley Cup Finals the past two seasons. However, they got off to a rough start and have failed to win as many as three games in a row.
Wednesday’s game marks the fifth of a seven-game road trip for Edmonton, who is currently 2-2-0 so far. Each of Edmonton’s last four wins all came in overtime, with their last regulation victory being a 6-3 home win vs. Utah on Oct. 28.
Most recently, Edmonton is coming off a 5-1 loss to Buffalo on Monday night. The team also lost to Columbus, but beat Philadelphia and Carolina on the road trip. They finish the trip with two games at Tampa Bay and Florida.
