Oilers stars McDavid, Draisaitl team up for 500th goal

Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl have been making magic together for a long time.

Now the Edmonton Oilers superstars can share rare company with some of the best duos in NHL history.

When McDavid assisted on Draisaitl’s power-play goal in the third period of Wednesday’s loss to the Washington Capitals, it was the 500th goal the two Oilers stars had both factored in on.

According to the NHL, they are only the sixth pair of teammates to factor on 500 goals togther, and the list is filled with Hall of Famers: Wayne Gretzky and Jari Kurri (764), Daniel and Henrik Sedin (745), Mike Bossy and Bryan Trottier (622), Alex Delvecchio and Gordie Howe (560) as well as Nicklas Backstrom and Alex Ovechkin (502).

McDavid and Draisaitl have been teammates since McDavid’s rookie season in 2015-16, and over the last decade, they have combined for four Hart Trophies, six Art Ross Trophies and four Rocket Richard Trophies. After Wednesday’s game, where they each had two points, McDavid now has 1,114 points in his career and Draisaitl has 982 points.
