Chicago Blackhawks star Connor Bedard sustained an apparent right shoulder injury in the final second of Friday's 3-2 loss against the St. Louis Blues.
Bedard was checked by Blues center Brayden Schenn on a faceoff with 0.8 seconds left. Blackhawks head coach Jeff Blashill called it a "freak accident," according to Chicago Sun-Times' Ben Pope.

Bedard won't play Saturday against the Detroit Red Wings, and another update is anticipated Monday, Blashill said, according to Pope.
The 20-year-old has been exceptional this season with 19 goals and 44 points through 31 contests. Bedard ranks third in NHL scoring behind only Nathan MacKinnon and Connor McDavid, and has played his way into serious consideration for Canada's Olympic team in February.
Bedard assisted on both of Chicago's goals Friday, and leads the Blackhawks in scoring by 18 points.
