The Edmonton Oilers traded Stuart Skinner on Friday. Now, Oilers captain Connor McDavid has shared some brutally honest words about his former goaltender.
Stuart Skinner played in two consecutive Stanley Cup Finals with the Edmonton Oilers. However, he also divided the fan base, with some arguing that he didn’t perform well enough in those championship series. On Friday, the Oilers ultimately decided to make a change.

Edmonton sent Stuart Skinner to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for goaltender Tristan Jarry. Pittsburgh also received defenseman Brett Kulak and a second-round pick in the 2029 NHL Draft. In return, the Oilers also acquired Samuel Poulin, who is currently playing in the AHL.
This season was a challenging one for Skinner, who was drafted by the Oilers in the third round of the 2017 NHL Draft. In 23 games played, he posted a .891 save percentage prior to the trade. While many Oilers fans are happy to see Skinner moved, his former teammates will miss him.
Oilers superstar Connor McDavid has now spoken about seeing his longtime teammate depart.
“I think he should be remembered for leading the way to two Cup Finals—two exciting runs that he backstopped,” McDavid told reporters, according to Hockeyfeed. “He was a good person while he was here. He always treated people well, and that’s important.”
Kind words from the superstar!
