Blackhawks trade goalie Laurent Brossoit to Sharks in four-player deal

Laurent Brossoit is finally on the move.

More than a month after Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported that the Chicago Blackhawks were open to dealing him, Brossoit was traded to the San Jose Sharks on Thursday, the teams announced.

Chicago sent Brossoit, defenceman Nolan Allan and a 2028 seventh-round pick to San Jose in exchange for defencemen Ryan Ellis and Jake Furlong and a 2028 fourth-rounder.

Brossoit has spent the season in the AHL after returning from an 18-month injury absence dating to the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs when he was with the Winnipeg Jets.

He carries a cap hit of $3.3 million and has posted a .901 save percentage and 3.38 goals-against average in six games with the Rockford IceHogs this season.
