Blues lock up Broberg with 6-year, $48M extension

The St. Louis Blues signed defenseman Philip Broberg to a six-year extension with an average annual value of $8 million, the team announced Saturday.

The 24-year-old was scheduled to be a restricted free agent at the end of the season.

Broberg has established himself as a key piece of the present and future for the Blues. He leads the team in average time on ice this season despite being their second-youngest everyday defenseman.

The 6-foot-4 Swede has managed two goals and 12 assists in 45 games this year. He notched 29 points across 68 appearances in 2024-25, his first campaign with the Blues.

St. Louis acquired Broberg in the 2024 offseason, signing him to a two-year deal with a $4.58-million cap hit as a restricted free agent while he was with the Edmonton Oilers, who opted not to match the offer sheet. The Blues sent a second-round pick to the Oilers as compensation.
