Edmonton Oilers centre Connor McDavid, Colorado Avalanche centre Nathan MacKinnon and Nashville Predators winger Filip Forsberg were named on Tuesday the NHL’s three stars for March.
The Oilers’ captain collected 24 assists and 31 points in 15 games, leading his team to a 10-3-2 record in March, while also becoming the first player to accumulate 30 points in a calendar month since he accomplished the feat in December 2022.
In the process, McDavid moved into contention for the NHL scoring title, sitting one point back of Tampa’s Nikita Kucherov and MacKinnon, with 126 points.
MacKinnon, the co-points leader, put up 27 points (11 goals, 16 assists) and was held off the scoresheet just once, on March 28, ending a pair of point streaks (overall and at home) of 35 and 19 games, respectively.
Forsberg had 12 goals and 23 points in 13 games, lifting the Predators (43-27-4, 90 points) into a wild-cart position in the Western Conference, as they went 9-2-2 in March.
