#48 - C
A late bloomer with intriguing upside, Noah Philp blends size, smarts, and skill in a reliable two-way package. Standing 6-foot-3, he uses his frame effectively to protect the puck, win board battles, and establish a strong net-front presence. His skating is solid for a player of his size—while not blazing fast, he's mobile and strong on his edges, allowing him to cover ice efficiently in all three zones.
Philp plays a mature, pro-style game. Defensively responsible with good positioning and awareness, he often takes on key assignments, including penalty killing and late-game faceoffs. Offensively, he shows flashes of creativity and playmaking touch, with a quick release and a good sense of timing off the rush. His hands are deceptively good, and he’s capable of finishing around the net or setting up teammates in tight spaces.
After a strong collegiate career at the University of Alberta and a promising stint in the AHL, Philp stepped away from hockey temporarily, but returned looking rejuvenated and motivated. His path hasn’t been typical, but his perseverance and hockey IQ make him a compelling depth option with potential to grow into a bottom-six NHL role.
Projection: Bottom-six center with penalty kill upside; could carve out a role as a reliable, low-maintenance forward who coaches trust in key situations.
